Kate Holt

Kate joined the Rural Financial Counsellors in August 2023, after working as a Small Business Counsellor with the service. She has over 20 years’ experience working in small business and finance. She has firsthand knowledge of family business growing up in her parents machinery services business and later in her own family businesses in transport, grazing, bookkeeping and property.

Kate is a passionate finance professional with a broad knowledge across many different Industries. As a registered BAS agent, her forte is small business accounting. This has given her a solid understanding of the obligations of small business.

She has lived and worked in rural, remote and regional Australia most of her life, so is aware of the challenges and opportunities of living in a smaller community. Kate has been through natural disasters, economic downturns and changes to the external environment including political, competition and industry regulations, so she can relate to how this can impact business and lead to hardships.

Kate places a strong emphasis on improving cashflow and finances by offering simple, practical and sustainable solutions. She is committed to utilising her skills in helping small businesses in financial difficulty become resilient and to get back on their feet again. She provides support and guidance in a confidential and empathetic manner.

Kate is a qualified CPA accountant and holds a Bachelor of Agribusiness. She has also undertaken personal development training in growth and goal setting. Kate resides in the Charters Towers and Townsville region.
