Natalie Hughes is our Townsville-based RFC servicing the North West. Raised on a beef cattle and small-crops property in Far North Queensland, and having also worked across numerous farming enterprises including cattle, silage, sugar cane, watermelons, pineapples, pumpkins, lychees, and bananas, she has extensive knowledge of the conditions faced by family farming businesses. She is particularly passionate about the economic and social sustainability of agriculture.
Natalie holds a Bachelor of Education (Sec) and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment among other qualifications. She will graduate with a Master of Economics (Agriculture and Resource) in January 2020 and is currently completing a thesis researching determinants of Queensland farmer willingness to engage in natural resource management practices post reef and vegetation law amendments. Just prior to joining RFCSNQ, she returned from an agricultural study tour of China and Vietnam, where she and her team from the University of New England won the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association’s Case Study Competition Young Professionals division.
Natalie services the North West monsoon trough affected areas including the Richmond, Flinders, McKinlay and Hughenden shires. In conjunction with her RFC colleagues, Natalie will ensure no part of North Queensland goes without a dedicated RFC to travel to and meet with clients.
Operators will benefit from contacting the Natalie to help identify ways to become self-reliant in business and to better manage change and adjustment.
Natalie can work with you to develop options and support you during the decisions making process.
