Primary producers and rural businesses under financial hardship have until the 1st of December to apply for the Farm Household Allowance and receive the full bonus payments announced by the Federal Government earlier this year.
The Farm Household payment provides assistance in the form of a cash payment of $492.80 a fortnight for each member of a couple, $545.80 for singles and $590.40 for singles with dependent children. It also assists by providing recipients with a health care card and $4,000 to spend on training or upskilling.
A lump sum payment for FHA recipients of up to $12,000 per couple and $7,200 for singles was announced by the Federal Government earlier this year. If farmers are not currently receiving an FHA payment, they need to apply for FHA before the 1st of December 2018 to receive the full bonus payments.
Rural financial counsellors can assist with submitting FHA applications free of charge but interested farmers must act quickly to secure an appointment if they want to get their application in before the first of December.
