Understanding Your Finances

Emma Shows how the RFCSNQ can help you understand your finances.

Welcome to the Rural Financial Counselling Service North Queensland. The Rural Financial Counselling Service is a free, confidential and independent service. The service is available to eligible farmers, fishing enterprises, forestry enterprises and small rural businesses who are experiencing financial hardship or at risk of financial hardship.

When you access the service, you will be assigned a Rural Financial Counsellor, who will work closely with you to improve your financial situation. The Rural Financial Counsellor will work through a Case Management process with you.

Initially, the Rural Financial Counsellor will assess your financial situation to determine where you have been, where you are now and where you are headed from a financial perspective. Next, the Rural Financial Counsellor will work through the planning stage with you.

After you have achieved your goals, you will be able to exit the service with an improved financial position.

After you have achieved your goals, you will be able to exit the service with an improved financial position.

Working through the Case Management process with the Rural Financial Counsellor will help to build your financial resilience and become self-reliant. As mentioned previously, the Rural Financial Counselling Service is a free service that is supported by the Australian and Queensland governments.

So, if you or someone you know are experiencing financial hardship or at risk of financial hardship, please contact the service. The contact details for your nearest Rural Financial Counsellor are listed on our website.
