About Michael
Based in the Atherton Tablelands, Michael Goddard joined our team in early 2025 as the Industry Recovery and Resilience Officer (IRRO).
Michael is an experienced extension officer with a background in natural resource management working with Cape York landholders to improve their farm businesses and natural assets. Michael also has a background in water infrastructure installation, and community development and is a board member of several community not-for-profit organisations in North Queensland.
Michael’s love of playing drums and singing took him on a two-year journey working in the arts sector supporting emerging musicians in Queensland’s gulf country and assisting in the running of school music workshops in remote communities.
Michael’s role as the IRRO provides primary producers in the Cyclone Jasper and the North and Far North Topical Low impacted regions assistance with farm business resilience planning and disaster relief grants.
Michael can help you:
better understand the risks facing your rural business
identify and develop strategies to mitigate risk
build resilience to the impacts of future climate-driven events such as floods, bushfires and droughts by developing
natural disaster response and recovery plans
access financial support and mental health support.
Michael can come to your farm or connect via phone or online and work with you to identify risks and strategies to mitigate disaster impacts.
Support for your business every step of the way
