As FNQ small business pressures mount – free, impartial, local support is available
Small businesses across the region can now access dedicated, one-on-one support through Small Business Financial Counsellor Kendell Thessman, part of the not-for-profit RFCS North Queensland.
Kendell is encouraging operators to book a Small Business Resilience Session to get supported and take practical steps to strengthen their business.
Kendell can provide one-on-one guidance for businesses experiencing financial hardship, recovering from this year’s flooding impacts, or preparing for cashflow strain over the summer season slowdown.
Her support is impartial, confidential and fully funded by the Australian and Queensland government programs, ensuring small business owners can access help without added cost or stress.
These free, confidential sessions provide small business owners with tailored guidance to:
understand their financial position
identify risks and opportunities
access government programs and assistance
navigate cashflow pressures
plan for continuity and recovery
develop practical actions to build resilience and confidence
Kendell said the sessions are designed to meet businesses where they’re at.
“Small businesses are carrying a lot on their shoulders – from rising costs to workforce pressures and changing markets. A resilience session gives operators the space, time and support to step back, look at the big picture and work through the challenges with someone in their corner,” she said.
“Whether it’s getting your books in order, preparing for tough conversations, exploring options, or simply needing someone impartial to talk things through, we’re here to help. No referral needed, no cost, no judgement.”
The Small Business Financial Counselling Service NQ (delivered locally through not-for-profit RFCS North Queensland) provides wrap-around support, working closely with Rural Financial Counsellors and Business Wellness Coaches to ensure business owners receive both financial guidance and personal wellbeing support.
Small business operators are encouraged to get in touch with Kendell to book a one-on-one session or to find out more about the support available.
This service is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the joint Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
RFCS North Queensland services all local government areas north of and including Isaac, Barcaldine, Longreach and Barcoo.
